Penitence
baldur's gate 3 | tav (knife)/emperor | drama/romance | mature
Post-game. Non-illithid Tav, romanced Emperor, impossible love; a rogue and an illithid take on Baldur's Gate and fall for each other along the way.
There were no lies in the Emperor’s words. But wasn’t that the way it had always been? No lies. Just words and thoughts, so exact and so brilliant that their luminosity almost blinded Knife to what was being omitted. It was clear that the Emperor wanted something from him. He wasn’t sure exactly what. But then, there was much that Knife wanted of the Emperor, too; had been wanting. Perhaps the affair warranted caution, but there was too much thrill in the idea of this deal for Knife to turn away. Just this morning, he had awoken in the fog of these past two years in solitude; now, things suddenly felt clear and sharp. He realized, now, that what had just passed was the winter, and the dark waiting spring. Now everything within was growing. He could feel it in his mind, abloom.Knife grinned—the Emperor’s eyes flashed in recognition. “Let’s do it,” he said.“Wonderful,” replied the Emperor, “Let’s toast to it—our new partnership.”It was symbolic, more than anything, but the ritual did something to elevate their surroundings. The Emperor’s tentacle wrapped around the stem of the chalice in a gesture that seemed half-alien, half-human. It was only water, but in the heat and rush of his exhilaration, it seemed to Knife that it had turned to wine.

The Sailor Who Fell From Grace With The Sea
baldur's gate 3 | the emperor, balduran, umberlee | gen | mature
Balduran incites the sea goddess's wrath; Umberlee pursues him across time; the Emperor learns. A story of pride, transformation, and forgiveness.
Umberlee sets herself against Balduran and brings him trouble upon trouble. At times, she attempts to devour his ship, swallow it whole and drag him to the depths. At times she sends her beasts to him—dire sharks to board his ship, the kraken’s heavy tentacle to strike and crush it—or else sirens, merfolk, to enchant him to his grave. He survives each encounter. He’s clever and brave, and something else, a quality that only the finest of mortals have; gods-touched, indomitable. The Bitch Queen twists and churns her waters in ecstasy, swelling with overwhelming waves that lap greedy, rapturous, at ships and cliffs—that lap like a thirsty beast. With one hand she destroys, and with the other she lashes blessings upon him, with the same excess and brutality. She watches on the winds and waves as he pillages and conquers and leaves, in his wake, nothing but the glimmer of his legend; that is to say, he conquers. He sacks and takes and in turn, he leaves only himself. Her waters shower him with gold. But time goes by, still. Years and years, and Umberlee begins to lose her patience—for Balduran does not come close to her. Blasphemy, hiss her sirens, he thanks no one for his victories; he prays only to himself.Umberlee’s thoughts stir jealously; if he will not glorify her, she has not been cruel enough.
